Diagnostic Unit
Diagnostic tools are essential not only for diagnosis but also for surgical planning. These tools include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-rays, computed tomography (CT), scintigraphy, and ultrasound. Various tools can be enhanced with contrast media to better visualise tissues or organs.
Our service
Our centre has an ultrasound unit staffed by doctors who specialise in this technique. Ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging method, and its use is increasingly prevalent in the fields of traumatology and sports medicine.
This dynamic technique enables us to diagnose injuries, assess and quantify their severity, provide prognoses, propose treatments, and establish follow-up checks to monitor progress. It allows for precise identification of various musculoskeletal structures (muscles, tendons, connective tissue, ligaments, etc.) for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Additionally, ultrasound-guided treatment of musculoskeletal injuries is proving to be highly effective. It enhances the precision of our interventions by allowing us to visualise the targeted structure and control the needle throughout the procedure.

The Diagnostic Unit of Instituto Cugat performs both diagnostic ultrasound scans and ultrasound-guided treatments.
