Dr. Ramón Cugat is a physician specialized in Traumatology, Arthroscopy and Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a pioneer of arthroscopic surgery in Spain and the founder of the Spanish Arthroscopy Association (AEA). For over a decade, he and his team have led the research and application of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), achieving excellent results in accelerating injury healing.
Several research groups led by Dr. Cugat are currently investigating and refining the use of stem cells for treating joints with cartilaginous lesions, including those affected by osteoarthritis and similar injuries in athletes.

His work in the Federation of Catalan Footballers has allowed him to see and treat thousands of injuries, more than 26,000 each year at present, and thus perfect the techniques used later in elite athletes, who rely on the hands of Dr. Cugat for their high diagnostic accuracy and at the time of the intervention.

Since the early 70’s I started to travel around the world to learn and share information about Arthroscopy, Orthopedic Surgery, Traumatology and Sports Medicine in general: United States, South America, Europe, Asia, Pacific, Australia… And I’m still doing it.

I am passionate about bringing to my patients everything I have learned in many countries, in many centers, in hundreds of hospitals, what they do, how they diagnose, how the arthroscopy technique is performed and I have also been able to teach hundreds of surgeons from around the world who have visited our center and shared hours of operating room with us and then apply it in their home countries.

My goal: to apply the best treatment for my patients. This constant work, the permanent alertness and being up to date on new research and new techniques give me great peace of mind, the certainty that we do not do things in a routine way. It is about seeking the best solution and excellence.

I have had the opportunity to meet great teachers whom I never tire of thanking for their generosity in sharing their experience with me; for me also, the human aspect is the most important in the relationship with patients, it is fundamental and key to achieve a good diagnosis, then will come the clinical examination and tests if necessary, or even surgery, but the first thing to be able to help as a doctor, is good communication, listening and understanding the problem of the person you have in front of you.”
