Doctor Ramon Cugat is a physician specialized in Traumatology, Arthroscopy and Orthopaedic Surgery.
He is one of the pioneers of Arthroscopic Surgery in Spain and the founder of the Spanish Society of Arthroscopy (AEA); for more than a decade he has been a pioneer with his team in the research and use of Platelet Rich Plasma PRP, obtaining excellent results that accelerate the healing of injuries.
Currently, there are several research groups led by Dr. Cugat searching and refining the application of Stem Cells in joints with cartilaginous injuries, including joints with osteoarthritis as well as injuries of this kind in athletes.

His work at the Federation of Catalan Footballers has allowed him to see and treat thousands of injuries, more than 26,000 each year and thus improve the techniques used later with elite athletes, who trust Dr. Cugat’s hands for their high diagnostic accuracy and at the time of the intervention.

“Since the early 70’s I started to travel around the world to learn and share information about Arthroscopy, Orthopaedic Surgery, Traumatology and Sports Medicine in general: United States, South America, Europe, Asia, Pacific, Australia… And I’m still doing it. I am passionate about providing my patients everything I have learned in many countries, in many centers, in hundreds of hospitals, what they do, how they diagnose, how the arthroscopy technique is performed, and likewise, I have been able to teach hundreds of surgeons from all over the world who have visited our center and shared hours of operating room with us and then apply it in their countries of origin. My goal: to apply the best treatment for my patients. This constant work, the permanent alert and being up to date on new research and new techniques give me great peace of mind, the certainty that we do not do things in a routine way. It is about seeking the best solution and excellence. I have had the opportunity to meet great masters whom I never tire of thanking for their generosity in sharing their experience with me; for me, the human aspect is the most important in the relationship with patients, it is fundamental and a key to achieve a good diagnosis, then will come the clinical examination and tests if necessary, or even surgery, but the first thing to be able to help as a doctor, is good communication, listening and understanding the problem of the person you have in front of you”.
