The association of carprofen administered presurgically together with remifentanil administered in continuous infusion is a useful analgesic protocol in the control of intraoperative pain, associated with sevoflurane as a general anesthetic, maintain good cardiovascular and respiratory stability and a gentle and calm recovery in patients undergoing trauma and orthopedic surgery. Patients need to be ventilated mechanically as respiratory depression is severe. Morphine administered as a post-a-pear prostice produced good analgesic coverage and a quiet recovery in all patients.
